Before this year, I was terrified of photography. All the camera settings scared me (they still do), and it seemed impossibly nerve-wracking to stand on the sidelines in front of an entire crowd and snap photos.
But in pursuit of well-roundedness, I decided it was time to join yearbook last fall as a backup photographer. When a photography editor said we needed all hands on deck for football in particular, I signed up. I discovered that taking photos is far more fun than it is stressful, and no one's paying any attention to me during an exciting game anyway. There's so much happening during football -- cheer, dance, the student section and, of course, the game itself. I was inspired by the lights, the sunsets and the passion of the athletes and fans.
